Over the Carnival holiday in Brazil, my girlfriend and I decided to spend our break in Las Vegas. We took an Air Canada flight that took us from São Paulo–Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) to McCarran International Airport (LAS) by way of Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
On our way out of GRU, we decided to check out the TAM Sala VIP in Terminal 2. The lounge is up an escalator directly after you clear immigrations and before passing through the duty free shop. Passengers with the following statuses can access this VIP lounge.
• TAM First Class passengers, or those flying in First with Star Alliance partner airlines, with a companion;
• TAM, LAN and Star Alliance Business Class passengers;
• Passengers who hold the Black or Red card of the TAM Fidelidade program; Star Alliance Gold Card or Paid Membership who are flying with TAM or any other company of the Star Alliance;
• LANPASS Comodoro or Premium Silver passengers who are flying with TAM.
The lounge is 5,800 sq. ft. and has seating for 174 people spread across a relatively open space and a couple smaller TV rooms. There is a bar and food station in the front of the lounge and a smaller bar and food station in the back. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the space and also some workstations, showers and a kids area.
The food options options were pretty limited with some small sandwiches, pão de queijo, cheese & dessert tarts. There was some wine and beer available for adults and sodas and juices for kids. Overall the space was very clean and modern and is a nice place to kill some time if you get to GRU early.
