Our Air Canada flight to Las Vegas over the Brazilian Carnival holiday included a layover at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The layover was for a few hours, so we decided to relax in the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge. With my Gold Status with United, I am able to access most Star Alliance lounges when traveling on an international flight. Since our flight was US bound, we were able to access Air Canada’s Transborder lounge.
To enter the lounge you first have to take a ride up an elevator. The elevator opens up to the lobby where travelers are able to check-in. The lounge is one of the biggest airport lounges I have been to, which makes sense since Toronto is a hub for Air Canada. The entire space is very open with windows lining one side of the lounge, which look out onto the tarmac. There are two main seating areas with plenty of seats for travelers.
The smaller of the two seating areas is quieter with primarily table seating for those wanting to do some work. There are beverages available in this area including self-service draft beer! The larger of the two seating areas is noisier, but has more comfortable seats. There is a food and beverage area adjacent to this seating area, which has a variety of hot and cold foods (oatmeal, pastries, fruits, etc) and an assortment of drinks including another set of beer taps. In additional to the main seating areas, there are conference rooms, work stations and showers available to travelers. Free Wi-Fi is also available in the lounge.
