The brand new Terminal 3 at São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport opened in May right before the start of the 2014 FIFA World Cup. Terminal 3 will house all the Star Alliance airlines that fly out of GRU in addition to a few domestic carriers. To accommodate all the Star Alliance passengers with Gold Status or higher, the alliance opened a brand new VIP lounge that is located after security and immigration and on the mezzanine level of the terminal. The lounge has a completely open layout with no interior walls. There are lounge seats and coffee tables throughout the space as well as a section with tables and chairs suited for those passengers looking to get some work done. Food options are quite limited with some bite sized sandwiches and desserts along with some fresh fruits. For drinks there is a small liquor and wine counter as well some fresh OJ and a couple refrigerators stocked with beer, soda and water. The bathrooms are nice and cleans, but there were no showers within this lounge (as of June 2014). For that you need to ask to have access to the GRU First Class lounge which is just in front of the Star Alliance VIP Lounge. Overall the space is very nice and comfy and definitely a huge improvement over the lounges in the older Terminal 1 and 2. Star Alliance stated the lounge is still under construction, so hopefully there will be some additional improvements and amenities to this new space in the near future.
